Growing up in a household where drugs and violence was a way of life, Shawn was on an imminent course to destruction. Never knowing his biological father, his mother and step father were dope dealers who eventually became addicted to crack cocaine. His brother five years his elder, became a stabilizing force in his life. Even though he himself was a drug dealer, who had numerous employees as a teenager, he persuaded Shawn with these words. “If I ever catch you out here in these streets, you’re gonna catch a beat down, on the spot.” Shawn was afraid of his older brother enough to not try and cross him. His stablizing force was soon incarcerated, when Shawn turned 16, and his homelife had greatly deteriorated from drug abuse. Shawn entered a great depression, and began to live his life as if nothing mattered. Through his aunt’s prompting he embarked on a life of higher education, 300 miles away. She told him that there was nothing for him in his old neighborhood. But he was soon kicked out of school for fighting and gun activity in his first semester. By age 19, Shawn had seen enough death, destruction and heartache to last a few lifetimes, and was looking for a way out. After a couple of near death experiences, Shawn decided that the present path he was going down, would lead to death, or prison, where most of his life-long friends were.
Shawn married his high school friend, turned sweetheart, and started working in the housekeeping department of a Hotel, at the same time starting a family. He saw computers as a way to provide for his now growing family, and a way for his wife to be able to stay at home with the children. He taught himself various technologies, and a few years later he became a software engineer. Armed with a entreprenerial spirit, and a gift to teach, he started Prāz Multimedia, with the focus on impacting lives. Shawn now lives in Texas and is a devoted father of four beautiful children: Breyanna, Shawn Jr., Isaiah, and Mayah. And husband to the most wonderful lady on the planet Anne-Marie.
